Randy Gardner: Teeneger who managed to stay awake without sleep for 11 days and 25 consecutive minutes.

Humans usually awake day and night sleep, although these days is not unusual for many bed day and night work.
But did you ever ask a man how long he can stay without sleep?
Two teenagers in the US have tried to test this.
It was late 1963 and the band Beach Boys was the most moving across the time.
The US was also begun to pursue more in the Vietnam War, and secondary school children were preparing for the Christmas holidays when the young couple decided to do a study that was fueled interest among the people.
This study reached the limit on 8 Januaru 1964.
Randy Gardner 17 years had managed to stay awake without sleep for 11 days and 25 consecutive minutes.
Bruce McAllister, one of the high school students who emerged with the idea, he said the move was due to the need to create a project presentation at the science fair.
After pulling their creativity and 'playfulness' relatively youthful, Randy Bruce and his friend decided to try to break the world record for a long time they sleep.
The record at the time was inashikiwa and one DJ from Honolulu, Hawaii, who was sitting at 260 without sleep (10 days and 20 hours).
"The first plan was to examine the effect of sleep deprivation on the wonderfully mysterious ability of the brain (including spiritual power)," McAllister says.
"We found that there was no way to measure it and so we decided to test then the effect of lack of sleep on a person's ability to understand and identify the factors in play basketball. Anything just what we can."
Cast them on the coin to decide who would sit without sleep.
McAllister was very pleased that he won 'viewer'.
But inexperience they emerged there broke out a barrier to how he himself would examining colleague Randy. What should he have done so without his own bed?
"We were stupid. You know, foolish young," he said, "and I stayed awake I pursued ... and after the third night without sleep, myself wondering evolution and getting in I was sleeping with bowed head on the wall, and I was writing notes on the wall."
These young people realized that they need to associate with a third party.
And then they called their friend Joe Marciano help in that 'viewer'.
Shortly after Marciano join them, a study on sleep from Stanford University and William Dement came.
Dement is currently a professor but in 1964 was just that he can begin his research work in the science of sleep, which was yet to change.
He had read the news about the case of the two men in one newspaper of San Diego and decided immediately that he wanted to share. That somewhat liliwatuliza spirit Randy parents.
"At the time, I was probably the only person on earth who had done real research about sleep," Dement says.
"Randy's parents were concerned that the study would hurt. Because at that time it was noted about whether someone would die for a long time they sleep."
Research on animals, one study which associates the cat that died after spending 15 days without Alla, had asked questions of whether there are other factors eg stress, depression or chemicals in the body, which contributes to the death of a person who has trouble sleeping and not insomnia itself .
McAllister says on the initial research involving animals, the researchers used the chemical, which probably affected the results.
"Randy was regularly drink Coke kind of football, but aside from that, he did not drink, drugs or chemicals refresh her man were popular at the time, such as Benzedrine or Dexedrine," he said.
In San Diego by the time William Dement was arrived, Randy, after spending several days without sleep, was still warm and very optimistic and was not found with any weakness.
But as the days went by, they did tests began providing amazing results.
Weigh his ability to taste, smell and hearing and over time its ability to recognize and feel things began to be affected.
Randy McAllister recalls he began to speak: "ninuse make me not the same, I can not bear to smell it."
Surprisingly, however, his skills playing basketball grew.
This however goes attributed to its action of playing the same game over.
"He saw the physical asana," says Dement.
"So, we can help keep the ball sleepless nights to play basketball or play the spheres scroll down. If he closes his eyes, he would lie down immediately."
At night, it was more difficult to stop sleeping because he did not have much to do, and so they both have a more difficult time to stop him sleeping.
All these things were still happening, they began to be featured more in the headlines.
At one time, their statement was the third most written in national newspapers States after John F Kennedy and a tour of The Beatles.
However, they illuminate as many jokes.
But the students were not doing a joke and they continued with their plan without a broken heart.
Finally, after reaching 264 hours without sleep, became a world record has been broken by their attempts yakasitishwa.
Instead of settling and sleeping soundly in bed, Randy was rushed to hospital where naval operations on his brain zilifuatiliwa closely.
McAllister explains what happened after that.
"So she slept at 14 series - not surprised by it - and then wakes up, more to going to need. The night his first, his level of REM sleep was preserver (which professional is best known as REM), which at that time was associated with a dream - but it was changed later - was too high. the following night, the rate began to decline and a few days later, they returned his usual standard.
"And then he got up and went to school ... it was not fun," Dement adds.
Results for Randy hospital was sent Arizona to be investigated further.
McAllister says the results showed that "his brain while you were sleeping while still awake all the time ... but the parts of the brain ingelala other kfuanya continue working."
For him, he says, it is understandable given the biological changes yalichoangia origins of contemporary humans.
"He was not the first man - or even for those creatures before humans now - forced to stay awake for more than one night and that is likely the human brain changed to enable validate one other continues to work - one part ingelala and repair themselves anew, others going to work. and that may be affected and prevented him from lack of sleep, "he said.
Several other people were trying to break the record of Gardner to stay longer without sleep following years.
But officials of the Guinness Book of Records who recognized the world record they stopped approving these records, because they believe these experiments could affects health actors.
Randy did not appear to be any signs of illness or suffer from its point of staying 11 days without sleep.
However, later in life he complained that he had the problem of insomnia.
In a press conference outside his home after the trials, three young men answered questions from the assembled crowd.
Randy was responsible for using the philosophy of their experiments.
"It was just a matter of thinking ability of the body to win," he said.
